Lewiston's Civic Theatre group produces several events each year, including musicals, plays, workshops, reader's theatre and art exhibits. Shows are held in the historic Anne Bolinger Performing Arts Center, a castle-like structure built in 1907 and named for renowned opera singer Anne Bollinger, a Lewiston native who performed on such great stages as Carnegie Hall, the Hamburg Opera House and, of course, the Lewiston Civic Theatre.

Hell's Gate State Park

Situated at the lowest elevation in the entire state of Idaho, this beautiful park features a large beach and day-use area with a canopy of shade trees, a marina for launching personal watercraft and boats and miles of hiking, biking and horseback trails. The Lewis and Clark Discovery Center has indoor educational displays, a two-acre outdoor interpretive plaza along the banks of the Snake River and a beautiful stream with sculptures by artist Rip Caswell.

Fishing
You don't have to leave Lewiston to find some of the best fishing spots for trolling, spinning, bait casting and fly fishing in all of Idaho. Bass and trout are plentiful in spring and summer and steelhead run in the fall. Five public boat ramps and two marinas (509 758-6963) are located within a few miles of Lewiston. You can fish on your own or engage the services of a local outfitter. The Great Snake Lake Steelhead Roundup fishing derby is held Thanksgiving week with $10,000 in cash and prizes. The Salmon River flows through Central Idaho to join the Snake River south of Lewiston. Known for its "banana belt" climate and year-round golf, Lewiston is home to several exceptional courses. Bryden Canyon (445 O' Connor Road, 208-746-0863) is a city parks' course and Lewiston Golf and Country Club (3985 Country Club Dr., 208-743-3549), a public course right in Lewiston. Across the river in Clarkston, are Quail Ridge Golf Course (3600 Swallow's Nest Drive, 509-751-8501) and Clarkston Golf and Country Club (1676 Elm St, 509-758-2546).

Park attractions include Big Hole National Battlefield. In Lewiston at the Nez Perce County Historical Society and Luna House Museum (Third and C Streets, 208-743-2535), located in one of Lewiston's first buildings, you will find Native American and pioneer artifacts showing the history of Nez Perce County.
