Skiing in Denver
It’s no secret that Denver is the Rocky Mountain gateway to some of the greatest skiing and ski towns on earth. Eldora Mountain Resort (21 miles west of Boulder, 303-440-8700) is just an hour away from Denver metro. The Colorado State Capitol

The most striking feature of the spectacular Colorado State Capitol is the dome covered with 200 ounces of pure gold. It offers a beautiful view of the entire Front Range, from Pikes Peak to the Wyoming border, a distance of over 150 miles. Though the dome is covered in gold, the truly priceless building material, Colorado Onyx, was used inside as wainscoting. The entire world’s supply of this rare stone, found near Beulah, Colorado, was used in this building. Outside, a plaque on the 15th step marks 5,280 feet in altitude.
