Situated on the sparkling Spokane River, just four miles east of the Washington-Idaho border, Post Falls is the western gateway to the mountains, lakes and rivers of beautiful North Idaho. With wooded hills to the south, rippling fields of grass to the north and the resort town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to the east, Post Falls charms its visitors with a beautiful setting, small town appeal and big town opportunities for shopping, entertainment and dining.
A short walk from downtown is all it takes to enjoy Spokane River views, watch for nesting osprey and splash in the water at Q’emiln Riverside Park. Treaty Rock Park and Falls Park, both within city limits, feature Native American petroglyphs and pictographs. For lakeside fun, travel 12 miles east to Coeur d’Alene which has all the amenities of a resort city, a City Beach and unlimited opportunities to get out and enjoy Lake Coeur d’Alene.
Each July, the River City Rod Run brings tens of thousands of car enthusiasts to Post Falls and has spurred the development of several nostalgic fifties-style restaurants on the outskirts of town. You’ll also find Prime Factory Outlets for shopping, and Greyhound Park for racing and other events close by.
Outside the city limits, three state parks, 55 lakes, four major rivers and 30 golf courses are within a 35-mile radius of Post Falls. The Centennial Trail passes directly through city limits, extending 23 miles east through North Idaho and 37 miles west to Spokane, Washington. Several ski areas are within an hour’s drive. The Route of the Hiawatha and Trail of the Coeur d’ Alenes, former railroad track grades converted to bicycle paths, provide a day of great family activity and easy access to the wilderness of North Idaho.
